With the onset of this winter weather, the Canterbury team has had a fun time looking back on our fond memories of July spent in Traverse City, Michigan. Not only is Traverse City filled with fun things like; white sandy beaches, lighthouses, boating, wine tasting, parasailing, friends and great food, it is home to Horse Shows by the Bay, which is one of our favorite competitions!

Founded in 2004, HSBTB offers multiple series of Dressage and Hunter/Jumper competitions at Flintfields Horse Park. Every year these series bring together thousands of the country’s best horses and riders to compete. Horse Shows by the Bay also hosts national and locally ranked events for the show hunter, open breed and equitation rider.

The Canterbury Team had a very successful show up in Traverse City. Maddie and Pumpkin Pie were Champion of the Short Stirrup and won the Classic! Cydelle won her first Pre-Green Class with Ali, Michelle and Kenya won great ribbons in the Amateur Owners and were 11th out of 60 in the 3′ Derby! Liz also earned some wonderful ribbons in the Low Adult Hunters. Overall everyone had a great showing!

When the team was not at the horse show they enjoyed one another’s company making s’mores, having campfires, enjoying the festivities of the annual TC Cherry Festival, swimming in Chandler Lake and dining out at some the best restaurants in the city! Traverse City is known for their wonderful restaurants and some of our favorites are Apache Trout Grill overlooking West Bay, Trattoria Stella, and North Peak Brewery in downtown Traverse City. Can’t wait to go back next year!
